In a resplendent event held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi participated in the jubilant celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF). The event served as a tribute to the enduring efforts of farmers, who have propelled Amul to its current stature as a globally recognized dairy brand.

Addressing a diverse audience of over 1.25 lakh farmers, Prime Minister Modi delved into the exhibition, providing insights into the remarkable journey of Amul – a journey that has not only defined dairy excellence but also embodied values of trust, development, public participation, and technological innovation, aligning with the overarching vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Prime Minister Modi underscored Amul's significant global presence, with products reaching more than 50 countries. The organization boasts an extensive network comprising 18,000 milk cooperative committees, involving 36,000 farmers and processing a staggering daily volume of over 3.5 crore litres of milk.

Acknowledging the pivotal role played by women, who constitute nearly 70% of the dairy sector, Prime Minister Modi praised their contribution. Government initiatives, such as the Mudra Yojana, were highlighted as crucial steps toward empowering women entrepreneurs and fostering women-led development.

The Prime Minister elaborated on various government initiatives supporting livestock breeders, including the distribution of Rupay Kisan Credit Cards and the establishment of micro ATMs in villages. These efforts underscore the government's commitment to providing tangible support to those integral to the dairy sector.

In addressing the pressing issue of water scarcity in Gujarat, Prime Minister Modi detailed government measures, including the construction of over 60 Amrit Sarovar reservoirs. These initiatives are aimed at fortifying rural economies and ensuring sustained agricultural practices.

Emphasizing the government's commitment to integrating small-scale farmers with modern technology, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the promotion of efficient irrigation methods and initiatives to empower farmers to become contributors to energy and fertilizer supplies.

A significant announcement was made regarding the establishment of a separate Ministry of Cooperation, signaling robust government backing for cooperative societies. Prime Minister Modi also highlighted substantial financial commitments to livestock infrastructure, including a 30 thousand crore rupees fund and interest rebates for dairy cooperatives.

Looking toward the future, Prime Minister Modi expressed confidence that as Amul approaches its 75th year, concurrent with India's centennial celebrations, it will continue to play a pivotal role in meeting the nutritional needs of the burgeoning population. He set an ambitious target to double processing capacity within the next five years, reaffirming the government's steadfast support.

The celebration witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including the Governor of Gujarat, Chief Minister of Gujarat, Union Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries of India, and the Chairman of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation.
